My three weeks overdue IS assignment.

There are of course a lot of potential dangers of someone young exploring the online world. The online cyber world is a lot like the wild west 200 years ago. There are good people, but there are some really twisted people as well, running among the lawless internet plains. Letting a young person surf the net is like letting a child run around alone in Michael Jackson’s mansion - Something will go wrong. Young kids are gullible, which means that they are easily tricked by people up to no good online. One danger is that old pedophiles hiding behind the computer screen will befriend young girls (or boys) online and attempt to get them to meet up in real life and then rape or molest them. Thankfully, we have Chris Hansen. Still, Chris Hansen is not Jesus Christ, and cannot single-handedly prevent the rape of all children worldwide.

Also, there is the danger of pornography and other dangerous materials. Young people with impressionable minds encountering pornography or materials like terrorist doctrines will have wrong ideas about sex and which people need to be bombed. Their young minds will be irreparably damaged beyond all repair. They will either end up like Mas Selemat or Michael Jackson.

I would advise myself not to surf pornography sites, or terrorist sites, or japanese sites, in order to preserve my impressionable young mind. After all, innocence is rarer than gold. Also, not to give details about myself to anyone online, in case an old pedophile starts stalking me, and sodomises me before strangling me and dumping my body somewhere, or in the opposite order. Scammers are dangerous as well, so I should advise myself not to buy dresses online. Finally, install a popup blocker and try to resist turning off Google Safesearch when searching for terms that could be related to sex (like “Meatspin”). This wonderful advice will keep me safe and protect me from the dangers of the internet for generations to come.

Somehow I think my IS teacher will turn off safesearch and search for meatspin after reading this.

I hope he falls into it.
